Fried Almonds with Thyme

This is a post I’ve been meaning to share; I’ve been sitting on it for quite some time now. I originally made these fried almonds with thyme last year for Mother’s Day. They were to go alongside some grilled garlic shrimp for some tapas style snacks and appetizers we had that day.

They were such a hit I’ve been making them for parties and get-togethers ever since. These almonds are incredibly easy to make. You can have them ready to eat in less then 10 minutes which makes them perfect for last minute snacks when the munchies hit or when you’ve got some unexpected visitors.

I prefer making these fried almonds with thyme but if you don’t love thyme, you could really use whatever herb you like. You could even skip the herbs altogether and experiment with different spices like cinnamon, smoked paprika, or even cayenne.

Sometimes I like to add a little bit of garlic powder or just use garlic salt. The garlic gives it such a nice flavor. If you’re a garlic lover like me, you’ll probably love that version. Just make sure your date eats them too so you can cancel each other’s dragon breath out ????

I just finished my first Whole30 and I found these almonds to be a nice little snack when I need one. Not only are they made with Whole30 approved ingredients, but they’re also Paleo, gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan.

This is one flavor packed snack that you can feed to almost anyone, unless they have a nut allergy. Don’t be the person giving nuts to someone with a nut allergy! I actually did that once by accident – my bad. Now I like to let everyone and anyone know when something has nuts in it.

In this case, this dish is clearly all about the nuts – delicious, toasty fried almonds with thyme. Enjoy!

  2. These look perfect for healthy snacking, Sharon! Love the thyme. We are planting the garden this weekend and I’ll be sure to get some thyme for the herb barrel for this recipe!

We are such big snackers in this house!! Right now I am obsessed with the coconut flavored almonds from Blue Diamond…a couple of those and a few dark chocolate chips and I am in heaven!! I can’t wait to try this, they sound amazing!

  5. Hafsa says:

  6. And if almonds could not get any better! I really love this idea!

  7. What a great Whole30 snack! I find that those are hard to come by. And I love how easy they are! Definitely a winner. 🙂

  8. Why have I never thought of frying almonds!? This is such a great idea!

  9. I absolutely LOVE making my own toasted flavored almonds because raw almonds in the baking aisle are so much cheaper than the pre-salted and flavored ones. Never thought to use thyme though. Love that idea!

  10. I’m a sucker for any kinds of nuts like this, especially ones that I can make easily and cook up without issue. They’re such a delicious snack, and I need to step up my game because I always just eat them plain. Clearly, I need your recipe in my life. And the rendition with garlic? Yeah. That needs to happen. My husband and I are big garlic fans, so our dragon breath would be cancelled out.

  11. It;s funny, I’m so obsessed with nuts, but I always just snack on them raw and plain! I need to flavor some up!
