I just want to start out by saying, this is a Kelsey approved recipe. That’s right, I got my two-year-old to eat grapefruit. She actually exclaimed after every. single. bite. “mmm yummy!” I must be dreaming right? I still can’t believe it. I’m going to have to ride this grapefruit train as long as it will last!

I really love these gorgeous ruby red Florida grapefruit. They’re so fresh and juicy. They’re in their peak season from January through March so NOW is the time to enjoy these gems! Florida grapefruit is the sweetest and juiciest grapefruit in the world guys. Not to mention, they’re an incredibly healthy food – full of essential nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and fiber. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out! I love this grapefruit broiled. Warming the grapefruit makes the juicy pulp just swell and burst from all that juice – you can literally see how swollen it gets from all the juice.

While these Florida grapefruit may not be winning any beauty awards, they sure are winners in the taste category. The key to making these grapefruit so delicious, juicy and sweet are the fertile Florida soil and subtropical climate. The weather can take a toll on the fruit’s exterior, but the inside is where the magic is. Cut one open and you’ll see what I mean, gorgeous red citrus flesh full of juice and ready to eat!

I’m so glad I’ve discovered another fruit Kelsey will eat. The cinnamon and honey compliment the grapefruit so well. It’s like a flavor explosion in your mouth. These sweet and juicy grapefruit are a snack that I’ll never say no to. Enjoy!

    • Sharon says:

Thanks Audrey! I’ve been so busy lately that this is pretty much all I’ve been able to make! My husband and daughter are both celebrating milestone birthdays this weekend (1 and 30) so I’ve been super busy trying to get everything ready for their party – then I’ll be back to my regular baking. But maybe I’ll try to do a few recipes like this every month.

  12. This looks so good! I have always, always wanted to try broiling grapefruit, but for some reason, never gotten around to it. And now the kids eat up the fresh ones before I have a chance. ๐Ÿ˜› Not that I’m complaining – I’m glad they like it!

You know, I’ve been wanting to try broiled grapefruit for years but never have, mostly because the majority of the recipes out there call for cane sugar.

What is the primary difference using honey? I’m interested in trying. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sharon says:

Using sugar will give it a more caramelized top but I wanted to stay away from the sugar and use a natural sweetener. I’m also slightly obsessed with honey – it’s one of my favorite flavors ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Julia says:

  17. Marye says:

I love grapefruit so much. When I was a kid we ate it broiled with brown sugar a lot but I haven’t made it in forever. Thanks for the reminder! I love the idea of honey and cinnamon!
