- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 - 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the water and sugar. Cook, stirring often, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove from heat and add the rosemary sprig to the saucepan. Allow to cool completely, then discard the rosemary.
Pour the simple syrup into a bottle with a lid, or another airtight container.
Use in beverages such as cocktails or mocktails. This simple syrup can also be used to make
sugared cranberries and sugared rosemary.
- Store your simple syrup for up to one month in the fridge.
- Be sure to remove the pan from the heat completely before adding the rosemary to the simple syrup. Rosemary will turn black if cooked, so you’ll want to steep it in the liquid without continued heat.
- To make a larger batch of simple syrup, you can double or triple this recipe. Keep in mind that simple syrup should maintain a 1:1 water/sugar ratio.
