Easy Summer Sangria with Watermelon and Pineapple
You guys, it’s finally summer – my favorite time of the year. Warm weather, beach days, sunshine, summer produce, and of course, Summer Sangria with Watermelon and Pineapple.
Today’s drink? A summer sangria recipe with watermelon and pineapple. Once you try it, I think that you’ll be hooked! It’s a crowd pleaser for sure.

So here’s how to make sangria! By the way-It’s made with just a few ingredients (including the fruit) and there are NO simple syrups involved which is especially important! Essentially just wine, brandy, fruit, and some soda for fizz. Simple = better!
And also please don’t skip that brandy – it’s an essential part of the sangria recipe. Without it, it would just be a spritzer. As a matter of fact, that’s all you need for sangria ingredients!
Why is this the best Simple Summer Sangria with Watermelon and Pineapple?
This summer sangria with watermelon and pineapple is made with white wine – though not just any white wine. What is the best wine for this sangria recipe in my opinion? Moscato.
I love the sweetness of Moscato wine. It undeniably pairs nicely with the watermelon and acidic pineapple. It’s also sweet enough that you can skip adding additional sweeteners to it.
I can still remember the first time we tried Moscato. It was actually at Olive Garden back in the day (also known as before kids!). My husband and I were hooked right away. It’s our go-to wine still!

Recommended equipment and kitchen tools for this recipe
- Hiware 64 Ounces Glass Pitcher with Stainless Steel Lid, Water Carafe with Handle, Good Beverage Pitcher for Homemade Juice and Iced Tea
- OXO Good Grips Large Wooden Slotted Spoon
- Stainless Steel Olivewood Spoon
- Zeppoli 4-Piece Stemless Wine Glass Set, Elongated and Shatter-Resistant Glass, 15oz
- Cocktail Shaker Set
Ingredients Needed
- 1 bottle Moscato wine 750 ml
- 1/2 C brandy
- 1 lime thinly sliced
- 2 C Del Monte® watermelon cubed and cold
- 2 C Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet Pineapple cubed and cold
- lemon lime soda for serving
- ice cubes
How to make this Easy Summer Sangria with Watermelon and Pineapple Recipe in 4 simple steps
- Pour the wine and brandy into a pitcher and stir to combine.
- Add the sliced lime, watermelon, and pineapple.
- To serve, place some of the fruit in a glass with ice.
- Pour the sangria over the ice and top with lemon lime soda.
What type of fruit is used for this sangria?
For the fruit, I used Del Monte Fresh pre-cut watermelon spears and their pre-cut pineapple.
First of all, it makes this sangria come together in a flash. Not having to cut up a whole watermelon and pineapple myself is a big time saver.
How do you pick out the best watermelon?
I also like that I can see the watermelon before I buy it. I’m a big watermelon nut – I love it but ONLY if it has the right texture. I can’t eat watermelon that’s too ripe or even slightly mushy. I just can’t.
There’s nothing worse (when it comes to watermelon) then cutting into it and seeing that the whole thing is too ripe. That kind of surprise sucks. When buying it pre-cut, you can see exactly what you’re getting.

Firm watermelon is also important to this recipe. You really don’t want mushy watermelon hanging out in your refreshing summer sangria – it’ll make the watermelon even more mushy and just gross (IMO).
I find my sliced Del Monte Fresh watermelon and pineapple in the produce section at BJ’s. If you’re picky about the texture of fruit like I am, it’s definitely the way to go.
What pairs well with this Summer Sangria Recipe?
Try pairing this with my delicious lemon skewers. It would even be great with some grilled bacon wrapped chicken! Or maybe you have a favorite go to meal of your own.

Summer time is perfect for this sangria drink
This looks great! But can you use something besides brandy?
Brandy is traditionally used in Sangria.
Made this today, sooooo good! I used a special harvest sweet Riesling since I didn’t have any Moscato on hand. Very refreshing, love the combo of pineapple, watermelon, and lime. It screams summer. Thank you for this recipe, I’m sure it is going to be a staple on our summer patio!
Thanks Shelley, glad you enjoyed it!
How fun! We will be making them again this week. Yes, they will be good for two days in the fridge
Can I make this summer sangria ahead of time with all of the ingredients mixed? We do a “Girls Night Sangria-Off” and I would love to make this but I would have to combine all ingredients before I left the house!
You could make it ahead of time, the fruit will be a bit softer but will still taste great!
Can you make this the night before? And how long does it keep?
You can make this the night before but if your watermelon isn’t firm, you’ll want to add that the day you’re serving it. This will last 2 days, 3 tops.
Ha! You write just like I think lol. I’ve been looking for a copycat recipe for a Summer Sangria served at a local restaurant- Market Grill. This may come close. I love your watermelon pep talk! Lol. I agree totally and will buy what you suggested. Thanks. I’m making a batch of this Sunday-Mothers Day for a crowd. And again I couldn’t agree with you more–Don’t skip the brandy. And–Moscato is the way to go babeeeee lol. Have a great day now. Thanks for sharing.
lol I guess we think alike then! And I hope you enjoyed it 🙂
This looks so refreshing. I am going to try it this summer. I am pinning it too.
Thanks Barbara!
What kind of brandy did you use I see a lot of peach and BlackBerry so I was not sure and don’t want to mess this up
Hi Dina – I use Paul Masson VS though this would probably be very good with their pineapple brandy.
If i dont have Brandy, what would you recomend me instead
Hi Daniela, I highly recommend using brandy but if you don’t have it, you could sub it for an orange liqueur like Grand Marnier or Cointreau.
This looks fantastic and just what you need after a hard days work. I will be trying this tonight.
Summer and sangria are two of my favorite things! I actually haven’t tried watermelon in it though
I love the pretty colors in this sangria….sounds delicious & perfect for summer!
Ah, this drink speaks to me!! I love sangria, and yours is sooo summer-y, and refreshing, and fun, and colorful!! I just want to reach in and have a sip!! And I had no idea about those pre-cut DelMonte fruits. I’ll keep my eye out for those this weekend! Thanks for sharing this awesomeness, Sharon!
Summer time is perfect for this sangria drink – sitting on the deck with some good friends enjoying some good conversation!

Sangria’s are particularly refreshing in the summer, and yours is picture perfect! I love the watermelon and pineapple combination. I’d feel like I was on vacation while sipping on it!
It definitely feels like vacation in a glass ????
Sharon–Summer is my favorite time of the year too. And Moscoto is my favorite wine. The way you dressed this up–stellar! And I will be drinking it ASAP~
Sounds like this drink is right up your alley then!
This sounds like the perfect summer drink! And I totally agree about mushy fruit, so I”ll have to keep an eye out for the packages next time I’m in the store.,
glad I’m not alone with my mushy fruit phobia!
Soooo, this is pure amazingness (not a word but I am so putting it!) and another great way to use up watermelon! Seriously, on my summer list!
It’s so good! Amazingness is totally appropriate.
This sangria just screams Summer to me!! I love that you added watermelon! I actually don’t think I have ever had sangria with it, but that is just genius!!
The watermelon in the sangria is FABULOUS. I may never eat it plain again after soaking it in booze haha
Summer is definitely the best season and I can’t think of a better way to beat the heat than with some pretty sangria! LOVE this summer-ized sangria! The watermelon and pineapple combo sounds and looks amazing! I’ll take a pitcher please! 😉 Cheers!
You’ll definitely need the whole pitcher, it’s too good to share!
